Getting a new TV? Don’t throw the old one in the trash!
Arlington residents can bring old TVs, which may contain lead and other harmful materials, to be recycled at the County’s Electronics Collection and Recycling Center. The center accepts TVs ($20 fee) and computer monitors ($15 fee) every Sat. from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Water Pollution Control Plant at 3402 S. Glebe Rd. Questions? Call 703-228-6832.

In addition CFLs produce less heat which means there is some small savings on your air conditioning bills. There is one downside. CFLs contain a small amount of toxic mercury.
